As a military spouse, you serve right alongside our service men and women with every permanent change of station, deployment, and temporary duty assignment. Rosie Project is dedicated to educating and empowering military spouses to advance their careers into mission critical positions within the Department of Defense alongside their spouse’s military career.


Information Technology (IT) Specialist

  • Rosie Project offers a 6-month Information Technology program for military spouses in collaboration with Weber State University and Hill Air Force Base. The military spouses attend courses that are specific to the needs of the Department of Defense and prepare them to pass IT Certifications. The course content includes technical and soft skills that will set the spouses up for success when transitioning into an entry-level GS-2210 position. Child care is provided for participants with young children during in-person classes.

    Currently, this program exists at Hill, Tinker, Robins, and Wright Patterson Air Force Base in-person. Rosie Project is considering expansion to other bases.

  • Rosie Project invites military spouses with an interest in becoming IT professionals within the Department of Defense to apply who meet the following:

    • Military spouse (current or previous) of a United States service member

    • Ability to obtain a United States security clearance

    • High school diploma (or equivalent), no degree required

    • Must attend all in-person sessions and have transportation available

  • Rosie Project proudly hosts two six-month cohorts of military spouses annually: one in the early spring and one in the early fall. Military spouses can express interest in the program all-year-round through the Interest Form, and applicants are reviewed and admitted to the program for each cohort.

    The 309th Software Engineering Group provides mentorship and hands-on experience to military spouses participating in the Rosie Project to enhance the curriculum.

    The local community provides support and encouragement to the military spouses trail blazing new opportunities for future spouses. They offer mentorship, tutoring, donations, and support.


Curriculum

Dedicated to the mission

Rosie Project’s Information Technology Program will prepare you for an entry-level Information Technology Specialist position (GS-2210) within the Department of Defense without the need for prior related work experience. After completing the six month program, you will have information technology skills in Network Security and Security+ systems. The coursework for the Information Technology Specialist track of Rosie Project is provided through Weber State University and enhanced by the 309th Software Engineering Group at Hill Air Force Base.

Earn digital badges to show employers the evidence of skills learned. Digital badges demonstrate your projects and skills more than a paper certificate, and you can share your knowledge on social media or through your e-portfolio. Digital badges are a quick way to prove you can match employer skill expectations. We will teach you how to earn, use, and display badges to make your skills stand out.

Weber State University prepares students for the CompTIA Security+ exam by giving you a broad understanding of practical knowledge and skills you’ll need to handle real-world security situations.

  • Problem-solving and effective decision-making are essential skills in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing workplace. Both require a systematic yet creative approach to address today’s business concerns. This course will teach an overarching process of how to identify problems to generate potential solutions and how to apply decision-making styles in order to implement and assess those solutions.
